Westside Stage brings the story of perky Elle Woods to West with their upcoming performance, Legally Blonde: The Musical.
Although the musical doesn’t premier until February, students are already hard at work to get everything ready for the final product.
“We basically have rehearsal everyday after school until feverish,” said Senior Courtney Shanholtzer. “There is so much that has to be done to prepare for the final show. I don’t think people realize how much work and dedication it takes. Not only are the actors and directors working to put on the show, but there are also costumers, stage managers, makeup crew, lighting and sound crew and parents who all make the show happen.”
Shanholtzer will be performing the lead role of Woods.
With the rigorous rehearsal schedule, Shanholtzer said the cast has to sacrifice a lot of their free time.
“Time is the main sacrifice but this being my priority I’m fine with giving that up,” said Shanholtzer.
This is the third show from Westside Stage this year, and Shanholtzer said this performance stands out from the others.
Shanholtzer said, “This being my third show this year, I can definitely say this one really sticks out to me. It’s so modern and humorous compared to the others. It’s also a musical, so that in itself makes it a bigger challenge.”
