LSW’s marketing department participated in its first in person DECA district competition since 2019, at UMKC on Feb. 9. 27 students participated in various categories, with 14 students qualifying for state.
“The competition consists of role plays, where you are having to essentially solve a problem on the spot,” junior Molly Brown said. “You are given 10 minutes to plan, and then you present to a judge.”
Brown competed solo at districts in the principles of marketing category, placing third. In her category, the top three finalists qualify for state, hosted in Downtown KC from March 13-15. She said that she is excited to experience the ambitious environment at state for the first time, and get a chance to qualify for the International Career Development Conference in Atlanta, Georgia in April.
