Netflix is known for having its seasonal movie choices and containing some big favorites. Halloween is coming up and students have opinions on the best Halloween movies on Netflix.
Sophomore Katie Noland said her life-long favorite is The Nightmare Before Christmas. “I’ve loved it since i was a kid,” she said. “It’s kind of become a tradition to watch it every year.” Her and her family watch the movies together.
The Nightmare Before Christmas is a movie by Tim Burton and it is known as a claymation, or a clay-animation movie. The main character, Jack Skellington, lives in Halloween Town along with many other halloween creatures. Skellington stumbles upon a tree in the forest which leads to Christmas Town. The movie shows his adventures and experiences with Christmas Town and comes to some conclusions about his own town.
Sophomore Rylee Williams said she most enjoys Hotel Transylvania. “We watched it in class one year in middle school and I’ve loved it ever since.”
The owner of the resort is Count Dracula, and he decides to throw a birthday party for his daughter, Mavis. Everything is going smoothly until a human arrives, uninvited.
Senior Brooke Zechel said she thinks Saw is the best movie out there. “I like horror movies more than most do,” she said. “I think it’s the best because of how scary it is and because of how intense it is.
Saw was created by Leigh Whannell and an intense horror movie. Characters Adam Stanheight and Lawrence Gordon wake up, trapped in a foreign, dirty bathroom. A serial killer by the name “Jigsaw” makes them solve his puzzle in order to live and to be set free.
Sophomore Kloee’ Arbuckle said that her favorite is a horror movie called Devil and thinks it’s the best movie on Netflix. “After watching it, I didn’t go in an elevator for a while,” she said.
Devil is a horror movie about a group of people who become trapped on an elevator and must confess to their sins if they want to survive. The Devil is among them and he is the one who is doing this to these people. Those who choose to not confess to their wrongdoings, will be terminated. It’s one of the scarier movies out there.
Jewels McAuley said the best movie for Halloween is Halloweentown. She said she watches it every year on Disney Channel around Halloween, but now that it’s on Netflix, she can watch it even more.
Halloweentown was produced by Brian Pogue and Ron Mitchell and is screened on Disney Channel every year during Halloween. It is a children’s movie about two witches who attempt to transform all of the trick-or-treaters into their costumes–permanently.
